Maria has extensive experience with competition law matters, both counselling as well as assisting corporations under investigation by national and international competition law authorities.

Jacob Friis Gottrup

Jacob Friis Gottrup specializes in intellectual property law, especially within the area of trademark, design and copyright.

Jacob renders advice to Norwegian and non-Norwegian enterprises who seek to protect their intellectual property rights. Furthermore, Jacob renders advice in relation to enforcement of enterprises’ intellectual property rights.

In addition, Jacob has a broad knowledge and experience with marketing law in general.

Eivor O. Biribakken-Damsleth

Eivor O. Biribakken-Damsleth is specialised within real estate law and assists companies and consumers with a variety of property-related matters. Eivor has wide experience in assisting clients with various disputes relating to purchase and sale of real estate, and construction. In addition, she supports clients with neighbor disputes. She holds solid experience with negotiation of settlement agreements, assistance in proceedings before complaint bodies and general dispute resolution.

Eivor also holds extensive expertise within commercial real estate, with special focus on lease agreements and general contract law, as well as real estate transactions and due diligence processes. She provides legal assistance to companies with the management and daily operation of properties, including follow-up of tenants, suppliers, building authorities, in addition to contract negotiations.

Eivor obtained her license to practice law in 2016.

Pernille Wold Ellingsen

Pernille Wold Ellingsen works in Kvale´s department for renewable energy, where she assist power companies and other players in the power industry. Primarly, she works with legal advicement related to production, transport and sale of renewable energy, but she also works with general dispute resolution across Kvale´s business law areas. Pernille has litigated several cases in the courts on behalf of some of Norway´s largest energy companies and also has extensive experience with process and procedure after working as a judge in Oslo District Court for five years.

Pernille received a lawyer’s license in 2016.

In addition to working as a lawyer in Kvale, Pernille is affiliated with the University of Oslo and the University of Bergen, where she has for several years supervised and censored master’s theses and been an examiner within several legal subjects.

Marte Roen

Marte Kapstad Roen is part of our oil, gas and shipping group. She represents Norwegian and international clients in regards to shipping and marine insurance matters. Marte specialises on contractual issues, including shipbuilding contracts, supply contract, and charter parties.

She has previously worked a Legal Counsel in Wärtsilä, a global leader within technology for the marine and energy market. Marte also has experience from being a Legal Counsel (secondment) in a leading service company within the oil and gas sector.

Marte is a member of JUS – academic committee for shipping and offshore, and has previously been a board member and chair of Young CMI – Norway. She is also taking an Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics (the “Blue MBA”) at Copenhagen Business School.

Jonas Benkow

Stephanie Brungot

Stephanie Brungot is a senior associate based at our Aalesund office, and a part of our banking and finance team, as well as our department for insolvency and restructuring. She regularly advises both debtors and creditors, including banks, on matters regarding transactions and corporate financing, including the drafting and reviewing of loan and security documentation, assessment of financial structures, and issues relating to collaterals and guarantees. Stephanie also advises on a wide range of matters relating to corporate law, and has advised on corporate acquisitions and disposals.

Stephanie has in-house experience as legal counsel at Nordea Bank, where she worked with a broad range of various corporate and private customers, with emphasis on corporate matters. In addition to legal advice in general bank related issues, she also assisted with reviewing and (re)drafting loan agreements, guarantees and other security documents. She also has experience from SANDS as an associate from August 2016 until she started in Kvale in 2020.

Stephanie is a regular speaker on matters within her field, and also acts as counsel in court proceedings.

Christian Sønsteby

Christian is a senior associate in the Ålesund office and a member of our corporate team with experience across a range of industrial sectors. He acts for shareholders and advises both senior management and boards of directors. Christian graduated from King’s College London in 2015 with a master’s degree in Law (earning an LL.M. with distinction) and joined Kvale as a senior associate in 2016 after four years with another commercial law firm in Norway.

Christian has advised on corporate acquisitions, disposals, corporate governance and restructurings. He also advises on a wide range of issues relating to commercial contracts. He is particularly experienced in negotiating and drafting cross-border manufacturing, supply and distribution agreements.

Representative experience:

He is the primary advisor on domestic and international commercial supply agreements for several major industrial actors within various manufacturing industries.

Christian was admitted to the bar in 2018 and is a member of the Norwegian Bar Association.

He also spent several years working as an online editor and reporter at TV 2 Norway’s national news desk and has gained experience as a general assignment reporter in the national tabloid newspaper VG.
