Kvale Law Firm has its roots back to 1985. In that year, Anders Kvale left his then position with Norway’s largest private company, Norsk Hydro, and opened his own law practice. Anders had by this time managed to graduate from both the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration with a master’s degree in Business Administration and from the University of Oslo with a law degree, as well as having risen to the position of CFO at Strømmen Steel and practiced as a lawyer in Wikborg & Rein Law Firm and in Norsk Hydro.

After having started his law practice, Anders soon got the call from one of his most regular opponents from his time with Norsk Hydro. This was Norway’s largest company, Statoil. Other key clients followed quickly, where Jan Stenbecks Kinnevik group, known for brands such as Tele2 and TV3, along with Statoil, proved to be lasting and important clients.

In 1988 Anders entered into a partnership with another lawyer from Wikborg & Rein. This was Kvale’s partner, Jens Brede. Over the next decades, Brede and Kvale where active in litigating a number of high impact cases, in both in the Norwegian courts and in international arbitration.

Since Kvale was established, the firm has experienced steady growth in its number of fee earners, its turnover and its standing in the market and business community. Kvale’s corporate culture has been strong, among other leading to the firm choice to never merge its way to growth. Kvale’s employees are dedicated to ensure that the company’s future will be at least as successful as its past.
